New figures from the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) indicate that women are starting families later - 23% are older than 35 years and the average age of mothers was 29.9 years. Additionally, the highest fertility rate can be found in women aged 30 – 34 years. The growing trend for women to delay childbearing has a significant impact on their individual fecundity and consequent need for assisted reproductive technology (ART) and other treatments.

Australia is one of a long list of nations experiencing a recent and dramatic decline in fertility rates in Australia and New Zealand. The number of babies born as a result of assisted conception procedures has increased three-fold over the past 10 years and, despite recent increases, the birth rate in Australia is still well below what is needed to maintain the population at its present level. The Fertility Society of Australia estimates that 1 in 6 couples (15%) of reproductive age suffer from fertility problems, accounting for over 3 million Australians.

In this module, you will learn clinically reliable protocols for the management and support of women suffering from fertility concerns, specifically in the mature population. This module will provide practical clinical solutions with herbal, nutritional and lifestyle prescriptions that will enable confident practitioners to support patients during this crucial life stage.
